Carnegie Mellon Racing
I entered the world of motor vehicles as a freshman in college despite having no knowledge on the subject whatsoever, but I found myself in an entire new world of design experiences. In CMR, I lead a group of eight designers to cultivate the team’s identity and branding in order to stand out during competition.
See how I mesh the worlds of engineering and design below!

We designed CMR’s first ever white car as we wanted to stand out from the other schools at competition. Our design features a “flow” pattern to highlight the curvature of the car while the top view features a linear plaid design to highlight Carnegie Mellon’s iconic tartan pattern as well as to directly contrast the monocoque’s design. The combination of these two elements resulted in a car completely different from any other. 23E went on to win second place at Formula Hybrid and is currently the fastest electric student-made car in America.

The biggest project the design team tackles is the car’s livery design. It must accurately represent the team’s brand and highlight the car’s main features all while being creative and unlike any other school. In a small group of three, we created the team’s 2023 car “23E”’s livery design.
